I (Artis Zelmenis) wrote an essay about Social Media Marketing Conference in Riga that happened in early spring. So here it is.
An event - Social Media Marketing Conference
There was an event – conference in Riga, few months
ago. It was for new or well established company owners on how to attract
customers through social media like Twitter, Facebook and local draugiem.lv.
Read further who ruined the conference.

Attendance
The event was well
attended and there were no seats left over. This leads us to think that social
media marketing is important in these days marketing strategy of various
companies and industries.
Creator of Social Media Marketing Conference
At the very beginning
creator of conference took speech about why he made this event and what he
thought to be important to include in program.
Content
After his small speech
first person from total three spoke. She was women, an internet marketing
strategist for companies and university teacher in marketing. She talked about
success stories on her marketing career path. Although her presentation was
well formatted and spoken something were missing in my opinion.
Added value
And that what were missed
in first speech was fully added in second speech held by Lattelecom (all
copyrights to company) internet marketer – a young, attractive guy who really
made a change in companies internet policies. This was important because the
company itself offers internet services. He adds some really great tips and
tricks on how-to’s. This internet marketer is one of very few who knows what he
is doing by instincts.
The ruin - better off without
The last was a young
student girl and in fact half of room left when she start to speak. That
concludes everything I could say about third part of conference.
Conclusions
Overall I liked it,
thought the third part could be taken off to justify the price more than 20
Lats. I don’t remember the actual price because the company I work in is in
this “club” whose members can attend these kinds of events for free.
The
conclusion could be whatever in Latvia are people who know something about
marketing or internet there still has a lot to add to common knowledge, for
example, I did not heard anyone mentioning psychological aspect of any action
which makes me think – do internet marketers really count on bare statistics or
maybe they should add in some psychological aspects. I feel like Lattelecom guy
touched a little bit to it, but from this conference that’s all from
psychological point of view.
